Years of Marauding
It all started in
1978 at The White Hart. An olde worlde pub in the North Hampshire village of Eversley, 5 miles south of
Reading.
The White Hart has
long been a watering hole for players and supporters of Camberley Rugby Club and
after a few beers one Sunday lunchtime it was decided to form a pub rugby team.
After a number of
games against other pubs and companies locally one of the team who worked in
Amsterdam suggested that the team enter into the Amsterdam 7's, thus "The White
Hart Marauders" were born.

Over the years the MARAUDERS have developed into a
renowned International 7's side that draws it players from all sectors of the
domestic and International arena. But they have never lost that sense of fun from the early days. The Marauders have introduced a new dimension to the touring sides with
such items as the "wobbly Wig" famously worn by Will Carling during his time
with the Marauders with the MARAUDERS in 1993, whilst still Captain of England.
Other significant names that have joined the MARAUDERS have included Jeremy
Guscott, Laurence Dellaglio, Peter Winterbottom and Dewi Morris to name a few.
Since those early
years the MARAUDERS have introduced their flair for rugby and entertainment in
many other tournaments including Hong Kong, Dubai, Lisbon, Cape Town, Toulouse,
Kinsale, Croatia and of course the U.K. With the ever increasing demands on the
professional game our team selections change day by day, however as stated in
the program for the Heineken 7's in Amsterdam this year "as usual with The
Marauders we know nothing about who will be playing, but as usual they will be
among the favourites".
